Shibari Rope Jam
An afternoon in which we come together to practise, to learn and to share rope. You come on your own or with someone.
How the day goes
14:00 group class L1, an hour and a half. You learn the basics. Tying off safely, your first knots, and how you stay in contact with the person you are tying. I work calmly and repeat as often as needed, so that by the end you have something in your hands that you can do yourself.
The jam starts at 15:30. We begin with a round of introductions. Everyone briefly says who they are, how much rope experience they have and where their appetite is going today. That way you know at once who is in the room.
After that we map out the programme together. Anyone who wants to tie today says what they are offering and how much time there is for it. We write that out in the open, as an open space. If you want to receive a session, you sign up with a rigger who appeals to you. Signing up with more than one rigger is fine, as long as there is room in their programme.
Everyone here may work with everyone. There is extra guidance on the floor to support that, so you get to know the riggers calmly and you are never left alone with a question.
Until 19:00 the room is yours. You follow the sessions you signed up for, or you watch and learn. I move around, look along and help where you get stuck.
