Tantra retreat in Belgium: what can you expect?
| No comments yet

You are looking for a tantra retreat in Belgium or the Netherlands. Not just a workshop for a few hours, but a full weekend where you can truly land, let go, and transform. In this article, I explain what you can expect from a tantra retreat weekend, what to look for when choosing, and why I developed Bind Mij Los as a tantra retreat that goes beyond theory.

What is a tantra retreat?

A tantra retreat is a multi-day program, usually a weekend, where participants immerse themselves in tantric principles such as conscious presence, surrender, breath, bodywork, and connection. Unlike a standalone tantra workshop, a retreat offers the time and space to go deeper. You sleep on-site, share meals, and go through a carefully structured program that leads layer by layer to more openness and trust.

Most tantra retreats in Belgium and the Netherlands work with a combination of breathwork, meditation, dance, massage, and conscious touch. What they have in common: they invite you to come out of your head and land back in your body. The difference lies in the depth, methodology, and safety of the guidance.

What should you look for when choosing a tantra retreat?

Not every tantra retreat is the same. When choosing, there are a few important criteria:

Safety and consent. How does the retreat work with boundaries? Is there a clear consent framework? In a good tantra retreat, consent is not something you sign at the beginning and then forget. It is an ongoing process, with continuous check-ins, clear agreements, and the space to say no at any time.

Experience of the facilitator.Who leads the retreat? What background and training does that person have? Look for facilitators who are transparent about their methods, process, and boundaries.

Group size and atmosphere.A smaller group (8 to 16 participants) offers more personal attention and a safer environment. Large groups can be overwhelming, especially during deeper exercises.

Program structure.A good retreat builds gradually. It starts with connection and trust, and only goes deeper when the group is ready for it. Avoid retreats that go too deep too quickly without proper buildup.

What is included? Some tantra retreats cost more than 1000 euros excluding accommodation and meals. Always check what is included in the price.

Bind Me Loose: a tantra retreat with shibari

Bind Me Loose is the tantra retreat weekend that I organize three times a year in Bergen op Zoom (Netherlands), on the border with Belgium. It is a two-day immersion in surrender, trust, and conscious intimacy.

What makes this retreat unique: I use shibari, the Japanese rope art, as a tantric instrument. Not as bondage, not as a technique to learn, but as a path to surrender. The rope creates a safe boundary within which you can let go. Physical limitation becomes inner freedom.

The weekend follows three ritual gates. On Saturday, we work with shame in the body: where is it, how does it feel, and what happens when you don't push it away but embody it? Saturday evening is a tantra temple event, a ceremonially held temple space with candlelight, music, and conscious meeting. On Sunday, we integrate the experience through bodywork and expressive movement.

All previous editions were sold out. Participants describe it as "a journey that seemed to last a week" and "a weekend where everything was welcome."

Who is a tantra retreat suitable for?

A tantra retreat is suitable for individuals and couples who are ready to go beyond the superficial. You don't need to be a tantra expert, but some experience with bodywork, awareness work, or personal development helps. It is important that you can feel where your boundaries lie and that you are willing to be vulnerable in a group.

Bind Me Loose is specifically designed for people with some experience. Are you completely new to tantra? Then start with one of our free shibari introductions in Ghent or a Shibari meets Tantra workshop. These do not require prior knowledge and provide you with a good foundation.

Tantra retreat in Belgium and the Netherlands: the offerings

The offerings of tantra retreats in the Benelux are growing. Most retreats can be found in the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Bergen op Zoom) and in Belgium (Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels). Prices range from 150 to over 1500 euros per weekend.

Bind Me Loose stands out in three ways: the combination of tantra with shibari (unique in the Benelux), affordability (starting from 165 euros all-inclusive with accommodation and meals), and the focus on shadow work and darker aspects that are often missing in most tantra retreats.

Frequently asked questions about tantra retreats

What does a tantra retreat cost in Belgium?

Prices vary widely, from 150 to over 1500 euros. Bind Mij Los costs from 165 euros (super early bird) to 220 euros, including accommodation, dinner, breakfast, and lunch. This makes it one of the most affordable tantra retreats in the Benelux.

Is a tantra retreat the same as a tantra workshop?

No. A workshop usually lasts a few hours to a day. A retreat is multi-day, with accommodation, and provides the time and space to go deeper. In a retreat, you go through a structured program that gradually leads to more openness.

Can I participate in a tantra retreat alone?

Yes, at Bind Mij Los you can participate solo or as a couple. Most participants come alone. All exercises are guided in such a way that you can safely work with changing partners within the group.

Is a tantra retreat safe?

Yes, in a well-guided retreat. Pay attention to the consent framework, the experience of the facilitator, and the group size. At Bind Mij Los, we work with continuous check-ins, the Wheel of Consent, extra slowness, and careful aftercare. You can stop or adjust at any time.

What is a tantra temple event?

A tantra temple event is a ceremonially held evening or ritual in which participants explore their desires, boundaries, and surrender in a safe, sacred space. At Bind Mij Los, the Temple of Surrender on Saturday evening forms the heart of the weekend, with candlelight, music, and careful guidance.

Where can I find tantra retreats in Belgium?

The tantra offerings in Belgium are concentrated around Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels. Bind Me Loose takes place in Bergen op Zoom, just over the Belgian border, and attracts participants from all over Flanders and the Netherlands. Check the Bind Me Loose page for dates and registration.
